DECKLID/Hatch/Liftgate/Tailgate/Swing Gate: Liftgate: Adjustments
- Check that the buffers (1a) are working properly. Adjust them if necessary.
- Check that the liftgate housing seal (2a) along the entire perimeter is working properly. Check that the seal is correctly inserted in the seat.
- If necessary, adjust the position of the lock striker (3).
- With the help of an assistant holding the decklid (1b), working from both sides of the vehicle, loosen the screw (1a) attaching the liftgate (1b) to the hinges (1c) and adjust the liftgate position, using the slotted holes in the hinges. Refer to GAP AND FLUSH, SPECIFICATIONS .
- After adjustment, tighten the screws (1a) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- If necessary, adjust the latch striker position as described below.
- If more adjustment is necessary, lower the headliner as necessary to gain access to the hinge bolts (1a). Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- With the help of an assistant holding the hood, loosen the screws (1a) on both sides of the vehicle securing the liftgate hinges (1b) to the body and adjust the position of the actual hinges, making use of the slotted openings. Refer to GAP AND FLUSH, SPECIFICATIONS .
- Tighten the liftgate hinge to body bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install headliner. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
