Bluetooth cell phone cannot be paired
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first .
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information .
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the HFL system.
- Make sure the client's cell phone with Bluetooth is Acura approved and configured correctly.
- You must be able to duplicate the client's concern to successfully diagnose the problem. If you cannot duplicate the issue, have the client demonstrate it.
- Once the symptom is duplicated, contact the HFL Customer Service. Many HFL issues are related to the cell phone and not the HFL system.
- See if you can duplicate the symptom in a known-good vehicle under the same conditions. If you can, it is probably a characteristic of the system.
- Always use the client's cell phone to successfully diagnose the problem.
- HFL starting operation check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-2. Press the PHONE button.
Is the Initializing screen displayed?
YES
Go to HFL does not respond troubleshooting .
NO: If you have client's cell phone
Go to step 3.
NO: If you do not have client's cell phone
Go to step 2.
- Problem verification
-1. Pair a known-good cell phone with Bluetooth to the client's vehicle.
Can you pair the known-good cell phone, and does it operate normally?
YES
The client's cell phone is defective or not compatible. Recommend your client contact the HFL Customer Service to discuss approved phones and configuration issues.
NO: With AcuraLink
Replace the telematics control unit .
NO: Without AcuraLink

-1. Pair the client's cell phone with Bluetooth to a known-good vehicle.
Can you pair the client's cell phone, and does it operate normally?
YES: With AcuraLink
Replace the telematics control unit .
YES: Without AcuraLink
Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit .
NO
The client's cell phone with Bluetooth is defective or not compatible. Check HFL web site, or call the HFL Customer Service to make sure the client's cell phone is compatible with the HFL system and that there are no known issues.
