No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first .
- Set the fader and the balance positions to the center.
- Before doing this troubleshooting, go to Audio power switch will not turn on (No information display and no sound) troubleshooting .
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Problem verification
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-2. Turn on the audio unit, and check for sound in each mode (AM/FM, XM, USB, and CD).
Is the sound OK in each mode?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose connections at the audio-navigation unit and speaker(s).
NO: No sound is heard in all modes
The failure is duplicated in all modes, go to step 2.
NO: No sound is heard in AM/FM mode
Go to Poor AM or FM radio reception interference (without navigation) troubleshooting .
NO: No sound is heard in USB mode
Go to USB input sound is low or cannot be heard (without navigation) troubleshooting .
NO: No sound is heard in XM mode
NO: No sound is heard in CD mode
- Determine possible failure area (volume level, others)
-1. Check that the volume knob is not set to the MIN level.
Is it at the MIN level?
YES
Raise the volume level, and recheck the function.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Determine possible failure area (audio unit, others)
-1. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function, and use the speaker check mode .
Did all speakers produce a tone?
YES
NO
Go to step 4.
- Fuse check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B37 (20 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. B37 (20 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (+B PREMIUM AMP line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Test circuit +B PREMIUM AMP Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 3 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B PREMIUM AMP wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the No. B37 (20 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the stereo amplifier.
- Determine possible failure area (SWD+B line, others)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Stereo amplifier connector B (24P) -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode Stereo amplifier connector B (24P): disconnected Test circuit SWD+B Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector B (24P) No. 13 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The SWD+B wire is OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (SWD+B line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

YES
Repair an open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio unit.
NO
The SWD+B wire is not open. Go to step 8.
- Shorted wire check (SWD+B line)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Stereo amplifier connector B (24P): disconnected ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected Test circuit SWD+B Test point 1 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 21 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair an short in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio unit.
NO
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect stereo amplifier connector B (24P) .
-3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the stereo amplifier and body ground (G504).
- Shorted wire check (SPKR lines, TWEETER lines, SUB WOOFER lines)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) -2. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.

Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the stereo amplifier and the speaker(s).
NO
The SPKR, the TWEETER, and the SUB WOOFER wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 11.
- Determine possible failure area (speaker, others) 1
-1. Check the speaker(s) with no sound for any damage.
Is there any damage?
YES
Replace the faulty speaker(s) .
NO
Go to step 12.
- Determine possible failure area (speaker, others) 2
-1. Test the speaker(s) .
Is the speaker(s) OK?
YES
Go to step 13.
NO
- Open wire check (SPKR lines, TWEETER lines, SUB WOOFER lines)
-1. Reconnect all the speaker connectors .
-2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

Repair an open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the speaker(s).
- Open wire check (PRE lines)
-1. Disconnect the following connectors.
NOTE: Eject the disc before disconnecting the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD player's load mechanism.

There is a short in the wires between the stereo amplifier and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO
The SH PRE wires and the PRE wires are OK. Go to step 17.
- Audio unit check
-1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier .
-2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES
Replace the original stereo amplifier.
NO
