Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Audio-navigation switch panel button does not work(With Navigation) (2013 2014 2015)

Audio-navigation switch panel button does not work 

NOTE: 

  1. Problem verification 1

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -2. Press the VOLUME/POWER knob on.

    Does the audio system turn on?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Go to Audio power switch will not turn on troubleshooting .

  2. Problem verification 2

    -1. Rotate the VOLUME/POWER knob to see if the volume changes.

    Does the volume change?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to Volume does not change troubleshooting .

  3. Problem verification 3

    -1. Operate all buttons in the appropriate switch list.

    Button Name
    Preset buttons (1-6)
    FM/AM button *1

    XM button *1

    DISC button
    HDD/AUX button
    CATEGORY buttons *1
    FOLDER buttons *2
    SKIP buttons

    *1: With XM
    *2: Without XM

    Do all the items in the appropriate switch list work properly?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO 

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 4.

  4. Determine possible failure area (OPERA CONT line, others)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector

    -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit OPERA CONT
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector No. 20 (GRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The OPERA CONT wire is not open. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  5. Open wire check (OPERA CONT line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit OPERA CONT
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 33 (GRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel.

    NO 

    The OPERA CONT wire is not open. Go to step 6.

  6. Shorted wire check (OPERA CONT line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P): disconnected
    Test circuit OPERA CONT
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 33 (GRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel.

    NO 

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

  7. Shorted wire check (OPERA TX line, OPERA RX line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P): disconnected
    Test circuit OPERA TX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 34 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit OPERA RX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 16 (BRN)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The OPERA TX and the OPERA RX wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 8.

  8. Shorted wire check (OPERA TX line to OPERA RX line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P): disconnected
    Test circuit OPERA TX, OPERA RX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 34 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 16 (BRN)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The OPERA TX and the OPERA RX wires are not shorted. Go to step 9.

  9. Shorted wire check (SH OPERA line to another lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P): disconnected
    Test circuit SH OPERA, OPERA TX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 15 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 34 (YEL)
    Test circuit SH OPERA, OPERA RX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 15 (GRY)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The SH OPERA wire is OK. Go to step 10.

  10. Open wire check (OPERA TX line, OPERA RX line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector: disconnected
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P): disconnected
    Test circuit OPERA TX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 34 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector No. 7 (YEL)
    Test circuit OPERA RX
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (36P) No. 16 (BRN)
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector No. 19 (BRN)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The OPERA TX and the OPERA RX wires are OK. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace affected shielded harness.

  11. Audio-navigation unit check

    -1. Substitute a known-good audio-navigation switch panel .

    -2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original audio-navigation switch panel.

    NO 

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .
