DTC B2862-11

DTC B2862-11  : Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short

NOTE:  Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review General Troubleshooting Information .

DTC (E-pretensioner)

1. DTC check

   - 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

   - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   DTC Description	DTC
   B2862-11 Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short

   Are DTCs indicated?

   Only DTC B2862-11

   Go to step 2.

   DTCs B2861-11 and B2862-11

   Go to DTC B2861-11 troubleshooting .

   NO DTC

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

2. Shorted wire check (R SPOOL B line) 1

   - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   Test circuit	R SPOOL B
   Test point 1	Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 6 (PUR)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Go to step 4.

3. Shorted wire check (R SPOOL B line) 2

   - 1. Disconnect the following connector.

   Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

   - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
   Test circuit	R SPOOL B
   Test point 1	Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 6 (PUR)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Repair a short to ground in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

   NO 

   The R SPOOL B wire is OK. Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .

4. Shorted wire check (R SPOOL PWR line to R SPOOL B line)

   - 1. Disconnect the following connector.

   Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

   - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
   Test circuit	R SPOOL PWR, R SPOOL B
   Test point 1	Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 8 (WHT)
   Test point 2	Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 6 (PUR)

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Repair a short in the wires between the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

   NO 

   The R SPOOL PWR and R SPOOL B wires are OK. Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .
