DTC B2861-11  : Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short to Another Signal Circuit

NOTE:

B2861-11 Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short to Another Signal Circuit  

DTC (E-pretensioner)

  1. Problem verification

    - 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC B2861-11 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

  2. R SPOOL A line check 1

    - 1. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Front Passenger's Spool Sensor A Input Voltage    

    When slowly pulling out the seat belt, is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. R SPOOL A line check 2

    - 1. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Front Passenger's Spool Sensor A Input Voltage    

    When slowly pulling out the seat belt, is there 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  4. Shorted wire check (R SPOOL A line)

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit R SPOOL A
    Test point 1 Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 12 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire between the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The R SPOOL A wire is OK. Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .

  5. Shorted wire check (R SPOOL A line to R SPOOL B line)

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit R SPOOL A, R SPOOL B
    Test point 1 Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 12 (YEL)
    Test point 2 Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 6 (PUR)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the wires between the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The R SPOOL A and R SPOOL B wires are OK. Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .

  6. Shorted wire check (R SPOOL PWR line to R SPOOL A line)

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit R SPOOL PWR, R SPOOL A
    Test point 1 Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 8 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Front passenger's E-pretensioner unit 14P connector No. 12 (YEL)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the wires between the front passenger's E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The R SPOOL PWR and R SPOOL A wires are OK. Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .
