DTC (E-pretensioner)
- DTC check
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B2851-11 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short to Another Signal Circuit B2852-11 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short Are DTCs indicated?
Only DTC B2852-11
Go to step 2.
DTCs B2851-11 and B2852-11
Go to DTC B2851-11 troubleshooting .
NO DTC
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.
- Shorted wire check (L SPOOL B line) 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Test circuit L SPOOL B Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector No. 8 (ORN) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Shorted wire check (L SPOOL B line) 2
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected Test circuit L SPOOL B Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector No. 8 (ORN) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the wire between the driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.
NO
The L SPOOL B wire is OK. Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .
- Shorted wire check (L SPOOL PWR line to L SPOOL B line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected Test circuit L SPOOL PWR, L SPOOL B Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 10 (GRY) Test point 2 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 8 (ORN) Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the wires between the driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.
NO
The L SPOOL PWR and L SPOOL B wires are OK. Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .
