Propeller Shaft Removal

Raise and support the vehicle (see LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ).
Remove exhaust pipe B and the muffler (see J37A4 ENGINE (WITH SH-AWD) ).
Place a transmission jack under the No. 2 propeller shaft.
Make reference mark (A) across the No. 1 propeller shaft (B) and the transfer companion flange (C).

Remove the No. 1 propeller shaft flange nuts (D).
Make reference mark (A) across the No. 3 propeller shaft (B) and the rear differential companion flange (C).

Remove the No. 3 propeller shaft flange bolts (D).
Remove the No. 1 and the No. 2 center support bearings mounting bolts.

Move the propeller shaft (A) toward the rear differential, then lower the propeller shaft assembly on the jack.
NOTE: Secure the shaft to the transmission jack with a tie down to prevent it from rolling off.
