Fuel Fill Door Adapter Replacement

NOTE:

Remove these items
- Rear wheel, left side (see HUB BEARING UNIT REPLACEMENT )
- Fuel pipe protector (see FUEL PIPE PROTECTOR REPLACEMENT )
Remove the fuel cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise, and remove the fuel cap wire (B) from the hinge arm (C) Remove the screw

Remove the bolts, and lower the fuel filler pipe (A), then remove it from the fuel fill door adapter (B)

Close the fuel fill door, pull out the rear edge of the fuel fill door adapter (A), then remove it

If necessary, remove the fuel fill door push lifter (B) from the fuel fill door adapter (A) by pinching the hooks (C)

If necessary, remove the grommet (A) from the body
1. Remove the left trunk side trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA )
2. From trunk compartment, pinch the hooks (B), then remove the grommet by releasing the seal (C) from the body
3. Pull the grommet out from the rod (D) of the fuel fill door actuator

Install the adapter in the reverse order of removal, and note these items

Before installing the grommet, clean the body bonding surface with isopropyl alcohol
Install the grommet by pushing on the hook portions until the hooks snap into place, and push the seal portion to make the adhesive stick securely
Apply multipurpose grease to the rod (A) where it slides inside the grommet (B)
Make sure the fuel fill door adapter fits around the fuel filler pipe properly Take care not to deform the packing of the adapter
Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the fuel filler pipe mounting bolts before reinstallation
