Camshaft Replacement




Camshaft Replacement

Front

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure. Procedures

2. Remove the battery and battery box.

3. Drain the engine coolant. Service and Repair

4. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.






5. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. Service and Repair

6. Remove the timing belt. Timing Belt Removal

7. Remove the rocker arm assembly. Rocker Arm Assembly Removal

8. Remove the front camshaft pulley.






9. Remove the thrust cover (A), then remove the camshaft (B).

10. Install the camshaft in the reverse order of removal. Always use a new O-ring (C). Apply new engine oil to the journals and cam lobes.

11. Apply new engine oil to the threads of the camshaft pulley mounting bolt, then install the front camshaft pulley. Camshaft, Rocker Arm Assembly, Camshaft Seal, and Pulley Installation

12. Install the rocker arm assembly, then tighten the mounting bolts. Camshaft, Rocker Arm Assembly, Camshaft Seal, and Pulley Installation

13. Install the timing belt. Timing Belt Installation

14. Adjust the valve clearance. Adjustments

15. Install the upper radiator hose.

16. Install the battery and battery box. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures

17. Fill the radiator with engine coolant and bleed the air out from the system. Service and Repair

18. Do the crankshaft position (CKP) pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview






Rear

1. Remove the intake manifold. Intake Manifold Removal and Installation

2. Remove the purge joint.

3. Remove the brake lines from the master cylinder. Service and Repair

4. Remove the timing belt. Timing Belt Removal

5. Remove the rocker arm assembly. Rocker Arm Assembly Removal

6. Remove the rear camshaft pulley.






7. Remove the thrust cover (A), then remove the camshaft (B).

8. Install the camshaft in the reverse order of removal. Always use a new O-ring (C). Apply new engine oil to the journals and cam lobes.

9. Apply new engine oil to the threads of the camshaft pulley mounting bolt, then install the rear camshaft pulley. Camshaft, Rocker Arm Assembly, Camshaft Seal, and Pulley Installation

10. Install the rocker arm assembly, then tighten the mounting bolts. Camshaft, Rocker Arm Assembly, Camshaft Seal, and Pulley Installation

11. Install the timing belt. Timing Belt Installation

12. Adjust the valve clearance. Adjustments

13. Install the brake lines Service and Repair and do the brake system bleeding procedure. Service and Repair

14. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
