Self-Diagnosis Indicators

If a fault is present in transaxle electronic control system and a DTC is stored, PCM will deliver an output signal (flash code) to illuminate and flash/blink "D5" indicator light or Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) may come on. The "D5" indicator light is located on A/T gear position indicator on instrument panel. See Figure. Flash code can be retrieved to identify problem area by installing a scan tool in DLC connector. A DTC (4-digit) "P" code can be retrieved by using a scan tool to identify problem area. Flash codes will be displayed by flashing "D5" indicator light.
