Test H: Engine Oil Pressure Gauge

NOTE: See WIRING DIAGRAMS for a diagram of the engine oil pressure gauge circuit.

Before testing, check the fuse No.5 (10 A) in the under-dash fuse box.
Make sure the ignition switch is OFF, then disconnect the 2-P connector from the engine oil pressure sending unit and ground it with a jumper wire. See Fig 1.

CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch OFF before the pointer reaches the "8" mark on the gauge dial; if you don't, you may cause damage to the gauge.

Turn the ignition switch ON. Check that the pointer of the engine oil pressure gauge starts moving toward the "8" mark.
- If the pointer of the gauge does not move at all, check for an open in the YEL or BLU/WHT wire or replace the engine oil pressure gauge if the fuse and wiring is OK.
- If the engine oil pressure gauge is OK, go on to next step.
Check the engine oil pressure.
If the engine oil pressure is OK, replace the engine oil pressure sending unit.
