Safety Precautions
The work may only be performed by trained personnel and at an approved location for this type of work.
Trained personnel refers to those with sufficient knowledge in the handling of pyrotechnic equipment.
An approved site means a site suitable for the equipment and its operation, and whose design complies with the authorities current requirements.
The equipment must not be used unless the aforementioned requirements are fulfilled.
Before this equipment is used, each sales company must be contacted to ensure that national laws are met.
Check thoroughly that no material or objects can be projected during disarmament.
Make sure to be a minimum distance of 9 meters from pyrotechnic components during deployment. If possible stand behind a wall.
To protect from injury, fully covering clothing (long pants and long-sleeved shirts), protective gloves, hearing protection, protective eyewear and, when handling destroyed components, a fresh air mask are to be worn.
Heat develops during destruction and spreads throughout the component. To enable reuse of adapter cables several times (if possible), the cable is to be detached with a pliers as soon as possible after destruction. This does not apply for dual stage airbags as the wait time between stage 1 and stage 2 destruction is 30 minutes.
SKIN CONTACT: Burnt pyrotechnic residue may be rapidly absorbed through the skin in toxic quantities. Wash with plenty of water. Do not use soap. Seek medical attention.
After cooling, destroyed components are to be put in a plastic bag and handled as scrap.
Repeat activation for destruction and check the lamp on the box.
If the lamp lights during activation, the connection is good and the fuse is intact. Remove the key from the discharge box and wait 20 minutes. During this time, keep an eye on the pyrotechnic component so that no-one enters the disarmament site. After 20 minutes, check the connections to the pyrotechnic component. Repeat the disarmament following the standard procedures. If there is still no function, remove the key and disconnect the battery. Wait a further 20 minutes. During this time, keep an eye on the pyrotechnic component and ensure that no-one enters the disarmament site. Then disconnect the connection to the pyrotechnic component. Remove the pyrotechnic component from the fixture. Send the pyrotechnic component away for disarmament. Ensure that national and local safety legislations are met.
If the lamp does not light, check: that the battery is fully charged / that all cables are correctly connected / that the fuse in intact.
Adjust the equipment as necessary.
Repeat the destruction following the standard method.
Upon continued failed disarmament and failed indication of the indicator lamp, wait 20 minutes with continued attention paid to the pyrotechnic component so that no one comes within 9 meters of the pyrotechnic component.
Then disconnect the connection to the pyrotechnic component.
Check the equipment.
