Rear Suspension, Service Position [2016-2020, B4204T23, TG-81SC]: Removal

CAUTION:

Make sure to carefully follow the instruction.

VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION

Deactivate the Air suspension control in Settings, which is found in Center Console Display top view or by way of Volvo's VIDA software : Diagnostics/Components/ECU/SUM/Diagnostic sequences/Enable leveling control

ALL VEHICLES

Follow the instructions for working at the car lift, refer to: WORKING WITH A CAR LIFT

VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION

Empty air springs according to: Diagnostics/ Components/ ECU / SUM / Diagnostic Sequences / Deflating and filling air springs and reservoir

NOTE:

Perform the procedure one side at a time.

ALL VEHICLES

Remove rear shock absorber, refer to: REAR SHOCK ABSORBER

Remove the fasteners.

Remove the marked part.

Disconnect the connectors.

Remove the cable harness clips.

NOTE:

Make sure that the component is suspended in a proper way.

Loosen the screws.

Torque: Slide rail rear brake caliper, 28Nm

Repeat the steps when removing on opposite side.

Remove the marked part.

On both sides.

Torque: Tunnel bracket, rear, to Body, 45Nm

Use a new seal.

Remove the nuts.

Torque: M8, 24Nm

CAUTION:

The number of connectors, cables and cable ties may vary depending on the vehicle specification.

Disconnect the connectors.

Remove the cable harness clips.

VEHICLES WITH FUEL OPERATED AUXILIARY HEATER

Loosen the clips.

Remove the screw.

Torque: M6, 10Nm

The screws may be difficult to access.

Remove the screws.

Torque: M5, 5Nm

Disconnect the connectors.

Remove the cable harness clips.

Undo the hose from the connection.

Torque: Air hose connector, to Connector with plastic threads, 3Nm

Undo the hoses from the connections.

Torque: Air hose connector, to Connector with metal thread, 5Nm

Make sure that new bolts are installed.

Remove the following items:

Torque:Subframe stabilizer bracket, to Body,
- Stage 1: 50 Nm
- Stage 2: 90 °
Torque:Subframe rear to body,
- Stage 1: 140 Nm
- Stage 2: 180 °

On both sides.

CAUTION:

Make sure that no components catch.

Remove the screws.

Torque:Subframe rear to body,

Stage 1: 140 Nm
Stage 2: 180 °

Lower to suitable height.
