Checking Components And Wiring
Do not touch the terminal pins in the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Disconnect the connector from the switch for the passenger airbag
- Disconnect the connector from the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Check the connectors for the switch and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors.
Remedy as necessary.
Check the cable between the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the switch connector. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between:
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #45 and switch connector terminal #4
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #50 and switch connector terminal #5.
Remedy as necessary.
Check the power supply cables between the ignition switch and the switch. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between:
- Ignition switch connector terminal #6 (X-supply) and terminal #1 on the switch connector
- Ignition switch connector terminal #1 (15-supply) and terminal #2 on the switch connector.
Remedy as necessary.
