Checking Components And Wiring
- Ignition off
- Disconnect special tool
see 9511506
from the connector for the inflatable curtain.WARNING:
Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instruments to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed pyrotechnical inflatable curtain. This could deploy the inflatable curtain
CAUTION:Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the SRS control module.
Check the female and male parts of the connectors for the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) and the inflatable curtain. The cable terminals must not be damaged or pressed back.
Check the cable between Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) terminals #11C(7) and #12C(8) and connector terminals #1 and #3 on the rear right-hand inflatable curtain. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the cable between the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) terminals #12C(8) and #11C(7) for resistance between these terminals. The resistance between the terminals should be infinite.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To access and replace the SRS control module and connector, see SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM MODULE (SRS), REPLACING
- To access or replace the inflatable curtain connector, see IC (INFLATABLE CURTAIN) MODULE, REPLACING
- To connect the breakout box, see CONNECTING THE BREAKOUT BOX
- With the ignition off and with the rear right-hand inflatable curtain connector and special tool see 9511506 connected, the resistance between terminals #11C (7) and #12C(8) on the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) connector should be more than 1 MΩ.
- With the ignition off and the connectors for the rear right-hand inflatable curtain and for the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) disconnected, the resistance between the rear inflatable curtain connector terminals #1 and #3 (Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) side) and ground should be infinite
