Wheel Hub Rear, Checking: Installation
INSTALLING THE BRACKET
Use the beveled nut and an M8x25mm screw for the lower mounting. Use the M8x25mm wing nut from the kit for the upper mounting.
Install the bracket included in the test equipment.
MEASURING LATERAL RUN-OUT
Install the dial gauge in the bracket. See
Put the test gauge point against the hub flange as illustrated.
Rotate the hub gently.
Note the test gauge run-out. The maximum lateral run-out of the hub should not exceed 0.020 mm.
If lateral run-out exceeds the value, replace the hub.
To replace the hub, See REAR WHEEL HUB .
To ensure that the maximum value together with the brake disc is not exceeded, install the brake disc with the clamp ring: see 9997104 from the measuring tool kit: see 9995418 on the hub with wheel nuts. Ensure that mating surfaces on the hub, brake disc and clamp ring are clean. Tighten the studs lightly. Then tighten the screws crosswise. Tighten to 90 Nm. When tightening using an impact wrench, use torque socket: see 9814031 . Position the tip of the dial gauge against the brake disc, rotate the disc slowly and read off the value.
The value must not exceed 0.050 mm.
