Condition

The switch for opening the tailgate is connected directly to the central electronic module (CEM). When the switch is pressed, the control module activates the lock motor in the tailgate and the car is unlocked. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the central electronic module (CEM) registers that the switch has been pressed for an implausibly long time (2 minutes).

• None.

Possible Source 

• The switch for opening the tailgate has stuck in the activated position
• The switch for opening the tailgate has been activated for more than two minutes.

Fault symptom[s] 

• The tailgate cannot be closed
• The tailgate is closed but opens immediately.
