Replacing The Rear Spoiler
Place the bumper cover on a soft surface.
Remove the spoiler from the bumper cover. First disconnect the 16 catches on the inside of the bumper cover. Then disconnect the 2 outer clips (1). Then pull off the spoiler.
On vehicles that have a tow hitch, a cut-out must be made for the tow hitch in the lower section of the bumper cover. See Fig 2 or Fig 3.
Applies to vehicles with a fixed tow hitch.
Applies to vehicles with a detachable tow hitch (North America).
Tape the outside of the bottom section according to the markings on the inside. This is done to protect the spoiler section from the saw when making the cut-out for the cable harness connector for the tow hitch.
Make the cut-out according to the markings.
Cut so that the raised edge on the inside marking the cut-out remains.
Smooth the cut edge using a fine-toothed file.
Remove the tape.
Clean the surfaces of the bumper cover where the new spoiler section is to be secured.
Press the new spoiler section into place on the bumper cover.
Check that all the catches engage.
