Freeing the constant velocity joint

Secure the drive shaft in a vice. The notch for the snap ring must be upward. Hold the snap ring open. Place the altered drift between the snap ring. Tap out the inner ring on the constant velocity joint slightly on the shaft so that the snap ring remains in the open position.
