Replacing the Compressor: Preparations

NOTE: Read the instructions about slow and large leaks. See Oil Air Conditioning (A/C) System, Filling .

NOTE: Always use new O-rings lubricated with air conditioning (A/C) compressor oil.

NOTE: Always plug pipes and connectors when working on the climate control system.

Note the anti-theft radio code if the car is equipped with an anti-theft radio
Switch off the ignition
Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Drain the refrigerant from the system according to Refrigerant, Draining .

Remove:

the air baffle according to The Front Bumper
the auxiliaries belt according to Replacing Poly V-Belts .

Protect the radiator using radiator protection 9995474 .
