Checking the boost pressure sensor signal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Volvo S40, 2003 Volvo S40, 2002 Volvo S40, 2001 Volvo S40, and 2000 Volvo S40. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition on
- Activate the read off for the programmed values
- Check that the value from the boost pressure sensor does not deviate from the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor by more than 200 mbar. The value for the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is used as a reference value for this test.
Select one of the following alternatives to continue:
- The value of boost pressure sensor 1 (BOP) deviates more than 200 mbar from the value of boost pressure sensor 2 (MAP).
Refer to Replacing the component
- The values for the boost pressure sensors are approximately the same.
Refer to Checking the connectors and the boost pressure system
- The value of boost pressure sensor 1 (BOP) deviates more than 200 mbar from the value of boost pressure sensor 2 (MAP).
- Reinstall the connectors
- Ignition on.
Read off the boost pressure sensor and atmospheric pressure sensor values.
Check that the boost pressure sensor value does not deviate from the atmospheric pressure sensor value by more than 200 mbar. The value for the atmospheric pressure sensor is used as a reference value for this test.
Try a new boost pressure sensor if the boost pressure sensor value does not correspond to the atmospheric pressure sensor value to an accuracy of 200 mbar.
