Checking components and wiring

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Volvo S40, 2003 Volvo S40, 2002 Volvo S40, 2001 Volvo S40, and 2000 Volvo S40. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Check that the resistance between system relay terminals 3 and 5 is infinite.

Check the power supply cable between engine control module (ECM) terminal #66 and the system relay base terminal 3 for a short-circuit to supply voltage and remedy according to Short-circuit to supply voltage, intermittent faults .

Check the power supply cable between the system relay terminal 3 and injectors terminal 1, ignition coils terminal 2, idle air control valve terminal 1, turbocharger (TC) control valve terminal 1, mass air flow (MAF) sensor terminal 3 and heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) terminal 1 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-circuit to supply voltage, intermittent faults .
