Fault-tracing information

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Volvo S40, 2003 Volvo S40, 2002 Volvo S40, 2001 Volvo S40, and 2000 Volvo S40. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

By activating the leak diagnostic the status (permanent/intermittent) of the fault can be determined. The fault is intermittent if this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is detected without any fault being found when the leak diagnostic is run.

If the size of the leak is unknown (qualifier unknown) when reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) the size of the leak can be determined in the tank system quick test if the fault is permanent.
