Checking wiring

Check the engine control module (ECM) and heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation .

Check in particular for damage, or loose terminal pins.

Check the signal cable between engine control module (ECM) terminals 76 and 19 and knock sensor (KS) terminals 2 and 3 for an intermittent open-circuit and remedy according to Open-circuit, intermittent faults .

Check signal cable between engine control module (ECM) terminal 51 and knock sensor (KS) terminal 1 for an intermittent short-circuit to ground and remedy according to Short-circuit to ground, intermittent faults , for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-circuit to supply voltage, intermittent faults and for an intermittent open-circuit according to Open-circuit, intermittent faults .
