Checking the ground lead

Ignition off.
Connect an ohmmeter between connector terminal 1 on the camshaft position (CMP) sensor (control module side) and the ground terminal.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 Ω.

OK
Refer to Defective camshaft position (CMP) sensor
NOT OK
Refer to Checking the ground lead

Check the cable between connector terminal 1 for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor and engine control module (ECM) connector terminal 79 for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Remedy as necessary.
