Adjusting The Chain Net: Notes
There must be play of approximately 15 mm (9/16") between the surface of the tire and the chain net.
- Check the distance between the surface of the tire and the chain net. If the clearance exceeds 15 mm (9/16"), shorten the chain net.
The shortening points (open chain links) are beside the stud elements.
- Use the bar from the socket set as a lever to pry up the open chain links
- Remove the chain net from the stud element.
- Shorten both the chains by one link.NOTE:
The chain net must only be shortened by one chain link at each shortening point. Both of the chains must be the same length.
- Hook the chain net back on to the stud element
- Jerk the shortened chain down to its original position
- If necessary, press the shortened chains into the stud element by hand.
