Checking The Component

Check the connectors for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the central electronic module (CEM). Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors. Also check the wiring.

Remedy as necessary.

Check what type of crash safety equipment the central electronic module (CEM) and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) are programmed for.

• Connect the connector for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)
• Connect the connector for the central electronic module (CEM)
• Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
• Read off using the VCT2000 (or appropriate scan tool).

As part of the check, a comparison is performed regarding whether the control modules are programmed for the following:

• Switch for passenger airbag.

If the control modules are programmed for different types of crash safety equipment:

Check whether the crash safety equipment that does not correspond in the comparison between the control modules is installed in the vehicle.

Remedy faulty equipment and/or download new software into the incorrectly programmed control module.
