Information About "Dead Zones" For Wireless Communication
Due to increased radiation in the surroundings from various forms of transmitters, in rare instance, the signal from the remote control can be interrupted. In such cases it is often in locations where the external signals mean that the transmission and reception conditions become unfavorable. The effect can be so severe that total loss can occur in some places, which means that no wireless communication can occur. This can affect all types of wireless communication, not only signals from the remote control and depends on many different units sending information within the open frequency band. If these signals negatively affect each other, wireless communication in certain places is impossible.
Examples of interfering radiation sources are:
- Mobile telephones
- Radio/TV masts
- Wireless readable electric meters
- Wireless headsets
- Microwave ovens
- Remote controls for garage door opening
- Wireless supervision cameras
- Remote controls for other vehicles
- Wireless weather stations
Inform the customer about these conditions. If the customer is regularly in the vicinity of such locations, the cause of the fault has been found. See if the vehicle can be unlocked by moving the remote control closer to the receiver (in the upper electronic module (UEM)). Alternatively the vehicle can be unlocked using the keyblade.
Applies to vehicles of model year 2005 and 2006.
Check that the upper electronic module (UEM) is up to date. If it is not, some of the above problems can be solved by downloading new software to the upper electronic module (UEM). The software increases the range for the remote control and increases the tolerances against these types of interference.
