Checking the wiring and component

Check the cable between the control module for the gear selector and the shift lock solenoid connector (control module side). Check for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Check the voltage between terminals #1 and #2 on the solenoid connector (female half).

When the brake pedal is not depressed the voltage should be 0 V. When the brake pedal is depressed the voltage should be battery voltage.

Replace the solenoid if the voltage is OK.
