Checking the transmission fluid

Remove the transmission oil trough:

• For AW50-42 1999-, see Transmission fluid, replacing
• For 4T65 1999-, see Transmission oil / oil filter, replacing .
• For AW55-50 and AW50AWD (AMB) 2000-, see Transmission fluid, replacing .

Check the transmission oil and filter. Check for abnormal  amounts of particles in the oil.

Large amounts of particles in the oil trough and filter indicate that there is an internal fault in the transmission and that the transmission must be replaced. If there are small amounts of particles in the oil trough and filter, the transmission control system should be replaced.
