Checking transmission fluid temperature sensor
- Ignition off
- Check the control module connector and transmission connector D. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation . Remedy if necessary
- Reconnect the control module and transmission connectors
- Ignition on
- Read off the oil temperature.
Check that the temperature is within its permitted range.
Compare with the transmission temperature.
If the transmission temperature is within its permitted range, the cause of the fault was contact resistance or oxidation in the control module or transmission connector.
Other information:
- To disconnect the control module, see Transmission control module (TCM), replacing
- To disconnect the transmission connectors, see Connectors, transmission, disconnecting / connecting .
Was the transmission temperature within its permitted range?
- YES
OKAY: Troubleshooting has been completed.
- NO
- Ignition off
- Transmission connector D disconnected.
Check the temperature sensor. Measure the resistance between transmission connector D terminals #D7 and #D8.
The resistance must be 4.5-6 kΩ at 20°C.
Was the resistance OK?
- YES
Refer to Checking the wiring and component
- NO
