Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The function of the transmission is dependent on the quality of the transmission oil. The quality of the oil diminishes if the transmission fluid is excessively hot over a long period of time. The oil temperature controls the time it takes before TCM-0042 is stored.
Temperature area / time before the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored
- 100-110°C for 9600 hours
- 110-120°C for 4800 hours
- 120-130°C for 1067 hours
- 130-140°C for 480 hours
- 140-150°C for 240 hours
- more than 150°C for 120 hours.

- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
- Defective oil temperature sensor
- Mechanical fault in the transmission
- The transmission has been exposed to extreme load and high ambient temperature.
