Checking shift solenoid S1

• Ignition off
• Check the control module and automatic transmission connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation . Remedy if necessary
• Ignition on
• Gear selector in position P
• Activate solenoid S1
• Read off the current across solenoid S1.

  The current must oscillate between approximately 0 and 1.5 A.

  If the current oscillates, the problem was caused by contact resistance and oxidation.

Does the current oscillate? 

• YES 

  Refer to Intermittent fault 

• NO 

  Refer to Checking solenoid S1
