Intermittent fault
- Ignition off.WARNING:
Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner
CAUTION:Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the SRS control module.
Check the connectors for the SRS module and seat belt tensioner for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation and for loose connections according to Loose connections (terminals) .
Check the female and male parts of the connectors for the SRS control module and the seat belt tensioner. The cable terminals must not be damaged or pressed back.
Check the cable between the SRS and the terminal of the seat belt tensioner connector according to the following:
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0064,
front left seat belt tensioner terminals #5A (5), #6A (6) and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-006C,
front right seat belt tensioner terminals #5C (1), #6C (2) and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0074,
rear left seat belt tensioner terminals #16A (16), #15A (15) and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-007C,
center rear seat belt tensioner terminals #17A (17), #18A (18) and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0084,
rear right seat belt tensioner terminals #16C (12), #15C (11) and connector terminals #1, #3.
for an intermittent open-circuit according to Open-circuit, intermittent faults .
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To access / replace the SRS control module and connector, see Removal .
- To access the connector for the seat belt tensioner, see Preparations .
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box .
- With the ignition off and the seat belt tensioner connector disconnected, the resistance between the seat belt tensioner connector terminals #1 and #3 (SRS control module side) should be approximately 22 kΩ.
