Intermittent fault
- Ignition off.WARNING:
Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner
CAUTION:Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the SRS control module.
Check the connectors for the SRS module and seat belt tensioner. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. See Contact resistance and oxidation . Check for loose connections. See Loose connections (terminals) .
CAUTION:For V70 2000- with model year 2000 and 2001:
- If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0080 for the right seat belt tensioner is registered, follow fault-tracing for the center seat belt tensioner (SRS-0078).
- If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0078 for the center seat belt tensioner is registered, follow fault-tracing for the right seat belt tensioner (SRS-0080).
Check the cable between the SRS control module and the terminal on the seat belt tensioner connector according to the following:
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0060,
terminals #5A (5), #6A (6) of the front left seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0068,
terminals #5C (1), #6C (2) of the front right seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0070,
terminals #16A (16), #15A (15) of the rear left seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0078,
terminals #17A (17), #18A (18) of the center rear seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0080,
terminals #16C (12), #15C (11) of the rear right seat belt tensioner and connector terminals #1, #3.
check for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-circuit to supply voltage, intermittent faults .
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To access and replace the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) and connector, see Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing
- To replace the seat belt tensioner, see Seat belts, replacing
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box
- With the ignition off and the connectors for the seat belt tensioner and for the SRS control module disconnected, the resistance between the seat belt tensioner connector terminal #1, terminal #3 (SRS control module side) and the removed battery positive pole should be infinite
- For information about removing the battery cables, see Battery, disconnecting
- With the ignition off and the connector for the seat belt tensioner disconnected, the resistance between the different terminals for each diagnostic trouble code (DTC) (see above) on the SRS control module connector (seat belt tensioner side) should be infinite
