Checking components
- Check the engine oil level and quality. Check for contaminants in particular.
- Check the engine oil pressure.
- Remove the camshaft reset valve. Check the oil ducts in the cylinder head for the camshaft's reset valve. Check for blockage and contamination.NOTE:
If it is suspected that there are any contaminants in the camshaft reset valve it should be replaced.
Try with a new camshaft reset valve if no fault is found in the above troubleshooting.
HINT: If the fault persists after carrying out the above checks or corrective action, this can mean a damaged VVT unit.
Remedy as necessary.
