Checking status
- Start the engine.
Check the camshaft adaptation by reading off the adaptation values of the camshaft (flanks 1-4). All values must be between -7° and +7°.
Turbocharged engines: When checking, the accelerator pedal (AP) must be depressed slightly but the engine speed must be below 1200 RPM.
Naturally aspirated engines: When checking the engine must be idling.
HINT: Theoretically the values for flanks 1-4 should be the same, however because of mechanical tolerances the values may vary between the different flanks by approximately 2°.
If all the adaptation values are correct (between -7° and +7°) the fault is intermittent. If any adaptation value is incorrect (lower than -7° or higher than +7°), the fault is permanent.
