Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-6220

Condition

The engine control module (ECM) monitors the engine temperature under different running conditions. If the signal from the engine temperature sensor corresponds to a temperature that is higher than a specific limit value despite a low engine load and speed, the control module interprets this as a fault and the diagnostic trouble code is stored.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is running.

Substitute Value 

• None.

Possible Source 

• Insufficient coolant in cooling system.
• Clogged radiator.
• Damaged engine cooling fan (FC) control module.
• Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors.
• Damaged engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Malfunction indicator light (MIL), on
• Engine is difficult to start
