Checking components and wiring: Overview
Do not apply rust solvent spray or grease to the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connector.
Front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), bank 1:
Check the signal cable (+) between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #1 and control module terminal #A41 (#A41). Check the cable for pump current between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #6 and control module terminal #A24 (#A24). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), bank 2:
Check the signal cable (+) between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #1 and control module terminal #A43 (#A43). Check the cable for pump current between heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) terminal #6 and control module terminal #A25 (#A25). Check for an open-circuit, short-circuit to ground and a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Replace both heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) if the wiring is OK and no faults are found.
Remedy as necessary.
HINT: If the fault remains after fault-tracing/remedying, the fault may be in the circuit for the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
