Removing Components
Remove:
- the intake and charge air pipes from the turbocharger (TC). Seal the openings
- the heat deflector plates
- the upper heated oxygen sensors (HO2S).
Remove:
- the upper engine coolant hose for the engine and radiator
- the solenoid valve (turbocharger (TC) control system) from the air cleaner (ACL) housing
- the air cleaner (ACL) intake from the connection on the front cover plate
- the air cleaner (ACL) assembly.
Relieve the load from the belt tensioner. Remove the auxiliaries belt.
Remove:
- the upper timing cover
- the front timing cover. For cars with chassis numbers 203779- , see Removing the front timing cover .
- the cover over the ignition coils.

Remove
- the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing and trigger wheel
- the pipe screw for the water-heated crankcase ventilation
- the clamps for the cable harness - ignition coils and the positive lead.

Remove
- the connectors for the variable valve timing solenoids
- the connector for the coolant temperature sensor
- the screws for the ignition coils and the two ground terminals.
Lift up and place the ignition coils and wiring to one side.
NOTE:
Mark up the ignition coils before removal.
