Battery, replacing

Preparatory work

Ignition off.

WARNING: See Battery, disconnecting .

Fold up the floor hatch.

Unhook the strap.

Push the floor hatch and compartment to one side.

Removal

Remove:

the nut securing the mounting bracket to the floor
the screws holding the mounting bracket against the rear crossmember
the mounting bracket
the protective cover
the drain hose (1) from the side of the battery
the battery negative lead
the battery positive lead.

Detach the battery mounting.

Remove the battery.

NOTE: For tightening torques, see Tightening torque .

WARNING: See Battery, disconnecting .

Installation

Install:

the battery
the battery mounting. Screw into place
the battery positive lead. Screw into place
the battery negative lead. Screw into place
the drain hose on the side of the battery
the protective cover
the mounting bracket
the screws holding the mounting bracket against the rear crossmember
the nut securing the mounting bracket to the floor
the floor compartment and hatch. Hook the strap into place. Close the hatch.
