Checking components and wiring

• Ignition off.

  Check the connectors for the parking sensor and the Parking Assistance Module (PAM). Check for damage to pins and connections. Also check the other connectors, which connect the cables between the Parking Assistance Module (PAM) and the parking sensor.

  NOTE:

  The connections on Parking Assistance Module (PAM) that ground/supply voltage, respectively, to parking sensor may differ from vehicle to vehicle. The rear parking sensors are grounded in Parking Assistance Module (PAM) on pins #C1, #C7, #C8, #C9. The rear parking sensors are supplied with voltage by Parking Assistance Module (PAM) on pins #C6, #C10, #C11, #C12. The rear parking sensors' signal lines are connected to Parking Assistance Module (PAM) on pins #C2, #C3, #C4, #C5.

  • Check the signal cable between the parking assistance module (PAM) and the parking sensor connector. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
  • Check the power supply lead between the parking assistance module (PAM) and the parking sensor connector. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
  • Check the ground lead between the parking assistance module (PAM) and the parking sensor connector. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.

  Remedy as necessary.

  If no fault is found, replace the parking sensor.
