Checking the connectors

Ignition off.
Check the ABS control unit, the control unit for the steering wheel angle sensor (SAS) and the steering wheel control unit (SWM) connector for contact resistance and oxidation as described in Contact resistance and oxidation .
Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
Ignition on.
Read off the steering wheel angle.
Check that the steering wheel angle is updated by turning the wheel to full lock in both directions. The steering wheel angle should be 0 when in straight-ahead position and +600° with full LH lock and -600° with full RH lock. If the signal is correct, it is likely that the fault has been caused by contact resistance or oxidation.
