Checking the pump motor

Temporarily connect an unfused cable between the pump motor connector:

• terminal #2 and the battery positive terminal
• terminal #1 and the battery negative terminal.

The motor should start when the cable is connected to the battery. Run for a maximum of 10 seconds.

Remove the temporarily connected cables.

Does the pump motor start and operate normally? 

• YES 

  Refer to Checking the pump motor 

• NO 

  Refer to Checking for an open-circuit in the cable

• Ignition off
• Connect the pump motor connector
• Ignition on
• Activate the pump motor.

  Check that the pump motor starts and operates normally.

Is the pump OK? 

• YES 

  Refer to Checking for contact resistance and oxidation 

• NO 

  Refer to Replacing the component
