Checking wiring
- Ignition off, wait for 15 seconds.
- Disconnect the connector from the front left-hand side airbag.
- Disconnect the connector for Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).WARNING:
Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical airbag. This could deploy the airbag
Check connectors for damage to pins and connections.
Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation.
Also check other connectors and connections that connect cables between Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the airbag.
Check the cable. Check for loose connections. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #4A/4 (4) and connector to side airbag, left, front terminal #1.
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #3A/3 (3) and connector to side airbag, left, front, terminal #2.
Remedy as necessary.
