Checking the loudspeakers and microphone
HINT: The sound from the handsfree box is always routed out through the passenger loudspeaker.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connectors for the handsfree box and microphone.
Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check the female and male sections of the connectors. The terminals must not be damaged or pressed in.
HINT: If the microphone cable is positioned too close to the phone, the network signals may disrupt sound reproduction. Check that the microphone cable is correctly installed.
Checking the loudspeaker
Check that the loudspeaker on the passenger side is working by listening to the audio equipment.
Check the wiring between terminal #7 on the handsfree box and the audio module (AUD/AUM). Also check the wiring between terminal #4 on the handsfree box and the audio module (AUD/AUM). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. See the relevant wiring diagram for information about connection to the audio module (AUD/AUM).
Checking the microphone
Check that the microphone connectors are correctly pressed in.
Check the microphone cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.
If there is a loose microphone, try to connect it.
