Symptom and function description

This function is an option on some markets. Headlamp wipers are on certain models.

Headlamp washing is activated at the same time as windscreen wiper washing is activated. Cleaning is started by moving the stalk towards the steering wheel. The wipers operate for as long as washing is activated.

The headlamp wipers are not activated when only the windscreen wipers are activated but when windscreen washing is activated.

High pressure washing of the headlamps requires large amounts of washer fluid. To save on the amount of washer fluid, the washer is only activated every fifth time within a ten minute period. If ten minutes have passed since washing was activated, washing will occur again when the windscreen washer is used.

If the washer fluid level remains low, the supply of washer fluid to the headlamps is cut off. Headlamp washing will not occur when the washer fluid level is low.

Verification 

• Switch on the ignition and check that no message regarding low washer fluid appears in the combined instrument panel.

  Check that the high pressure washer, and any wipers, activate for the headlamps when the windscreen washer is activated by moving the control stalk on the steering column.

When headlamp washing has occurred once, it will not occur again until 10 minutes have passed.
