Checking Left Rear Door Wiring
- Ignition off
- Remove the side of the left-hand rear door
- Disconnect the connector in the door control module.
Check the connector on the control module and the wiring. Check for damage. Check for damaged pins and sockets. Also check that all sockets and pins are securely mounted.
Take resistance readings between terminals (#11) and (#2) on the wiring between the door control module and the lock unit. The readings measure the resistance in the wiring and winding in the deadlock lock motor in the lock unit.
NOTE:Do not damage pins or sockets in the terminals when taking the readings. Use a loose terminal pin/socket to obtain good contact.
Twist the connectors and bend the cable harness to identify any intermittent short-circuits or open-circuits.
The resistance must be approximately 20 Ω (+-3 ohm).
If no reading is obtained, check the wiring between the control module and the lock unit. Check for an open-circuit. Also check the connector on the lock unit. Check for physical damage, bent pins and "reversed" terminals.
Remedy the cables as necessary.
If no other fault is discovered, the lock unit should be replaced.
NOTE:Replace the lock unit with a lock unit of the correct type, containing the same number of lock motors.
