Checking Component And Wiring
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that communication between the central electronic module (CEM) and the steering column lock module (SCL), the start control module (SCU), the left-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) (accessory) and the right-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) (accessory) is not functioning. This may be due to a fault in the signal cable between the control modules or a defective communication device in one or all of the control modules.
Check the signal cable between the central electronic module (CEM) and the steering column lock module (SCL). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) connector terminal #B17 (#17) and steering column lock module (SCL) terminal #4.
Check the cable between the central electronic module (CEM) and the start control module (SCU). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) connector terminal #B17 (#17) and start control module (SCU) terminal #2.
Check the cable between the central electronic module (CEM) and the left-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground or supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) connector terminal #G26 (#26) and left-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) terminal #A12.
Check the cable between the left-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) and the right-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground or supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Left-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) connector terminal #11 and right-hand gas discharge lamp module (GDL) terminal #A11.
